Beautiful Hair Deserves a Little Care
Your Forever Kee Hair Vault wig is made with human hair and, just like your own hair, the way you care for it can affect how it looks, feels, and wears over time.
A little maintenance goes a long way.
Follow these care recommendations to help keep your Forever Kee wig looking beautiful.
Everyday Care
Handle your wig gently and avoid unnecessary pulling, tugging, or excessive brushing.
Before styling, gently detangle the hair beginning at the ends and working your way upward toward the roots.
For straight and body wave textures, use a wide-tooth comb, detangling brush, or other tool designed for gentle detangling.
Avoid excessive brushing or combing near the lace and knots.
Washing & Conditioning
Your wig does not need to be washed after every wear. Wash as needed based on product buildup, styling, and how frequently the wig is worn.
Before washing, gently detangle the hair.
Use lukewarm water and a gentle shampoo suitable for human hair. Avoid aggressively rubbing, twisting, or bunching the hair while washing.
Follow with a moisturizing conditioner, focusing primarily on the mid-lengths and ends.
Rinse thoroughly and gently remove excess water without wringing or twisting the hair.
Whenever possible, allow your wig to air dry before styling.
Heat Styling
Because Forever Kee wigs are made with human hair, they may be heat styled.
Always apply a heat protectant before using flat irons, curling irons, hot combs, or other heated styling tools.
Use the lowest effective temperature needed to achieve your desired style and avoid repeatedly applying heat to the same area.
Excessive heat can cause dryness, breakage, and shorten the life of the hair.
Take extra care when applying heat near the lace.
Caring for Curly Hair
Curly textures require a little different care to maintain their curl pattern, moisture, and definition.
For refreshing curls between washes, lightly mist the hair with water and use a small amount of leave-in conditioner, mousse, curl activator, or another product designed to refresh and define human-hair curls.
Avoid oversaturating the hair with heavy products, as excessive product buildup can weigh down the curls.
When detangling, work with the hair while it is damp. Use your fingers, a wide-tooth comb, or a detangling brush and work in sections, beginning at the ends and gently working upward toward the roots.
Avoid repeatedly brushing or combing curly hair while dry, as this can disrupt the curl pattern, create frizz, and cause unnecessary tangling.
After washing or refreshing, gently scrunch and reshape the curls as needed and allow the hair to air dry whenever possible.
Caring for Colored Hair
Colored wigs have undergone additional processing and may require extra moisture and gentler handling.
Use products suitable for color-treated human hair, limit unnecessary heat, and keep the hair properly conditioned.
Color-treated hair may experience dryness or changes in texture over time more quickly than unprocessed hair.
Proper maintenance can help preserve the appearance and feel of your colored wig.
Lace Care
IMPORTANT — HANDLE YOUR LACE WITH CARE
Lace is delicate and can rip or tear when excessive tension is applied.
Do not pull, tug, or use the lace itself to adjust or reposition your wig on your head.
When positioning your wig, gently hold the wig at the sides near the ear tabs and use those areas to carefully pull, position, and adjust the wig into place.
Avoid using the front lace, hairline, or lace edges as handles when putting on or adjusting your wig.
When applying, removing, or cleaning your wig, always handle the lace gently.
When removing adhesive or product buildup, use an appropriate lace or adhesive remover and allow the product enough time to loosen before gently cleaning the area.
Do not aggressively scrub, scratch, pick, or pull at the lace or knots.
Repeated tension, rough handling, excessive adhesive buildup, and improper application or removal can damage the lace, loosen knots, cause shedding around the hairline, or result in rips and tears.
Sleeping in Your Wig
For the best long-term care, we recommend removing your wig before sleeping whenever possible.
If you choose to sleep in your wig, protect the hair with a satin or silk bonnet or scarf and avoid leaving the hair loose where unnecessary friction can cause tangling, dryness, or matting.
Storing Your Wig
When you’re not wearing your wig, store it clean, dry, and away from unnecessary friction.
For maintaining the style and shape, a wig stand or mannequin head may be used.
Your Forever Kee Hair Vault satin storage bag can also be used to protect your wig between wears or while traveling.
Before placing your wig in the satin bag, make sure the hair is completely dry, gently detangled, and neatly arranged to minimize tangling.
Shedding & Tangling
Some shedding is normal with human-hair wigs, particularly during detangling, washing, and styling.
Excessive pulling, rough brushing, cut or damaged lace, product buildup, improper detangling, and frequent manipulation can contribute to additional shedding or tangling.
Longer textures and curly hair may naturally require more frequent detangling and maintenance.
Help Your Wig Last
To help maintain your Forever Kee wig:
- Detangle gently and regularly.
- Keep the hair moisturized without overloading it with heavy products.
- Use heat protectant whenever heat styling.
- Avoid excessive heat and unnecessary manipulation.
- Handle the lace and hairline gently.
- Keep adhesives and product buildup from accumulating on the lace.
- Never store the wig while wet or damp.
- Protect the hair while sleeping or remove the wig before bed.
- Give colored and chemically processed hair extra moisture and care.
A Note About Wig Longevity
The lifespan of a human-hair wig varies based on factors such as frequency of wear, styling, heat use, coloring or processing, product use, maintenance, and overall care.
Because every customer’s wear and care routine is different, Forever Kee does not guarantee a specific lifespan for any wig.
Proper care can help maintain the appearance, softness, and overall condition of your Forever Kee Hair Vault wig for as long as possible.
